October 2014 Update

Date: October 31, 2014 Author: Rachel Categories: News

On 4th October out students took part in a village wide cleanliness drive as part of our teaching awareness about the importance of a clean and tidy environment. Our students picked up and collected rubbish throughout the village and did an amazing job. The villagers who saw them praised their efforts, which will help raise better awareness of the villagers’ own need to keep their environment clean.

On the same day we also held a speaking competition for students in 5th – 8th standard. Everyone did very well and spoke knowledgeably about a broad variety of topics. Our winners were:
1st place – Muskan (6th class)
2nd place – Muskan (7th Class), Sameer (8th Class)
3rd place – Sonu (8th Class), Diksha (7th class) and Bharti (7th class)
Well done to everyone who took part!

On 20th October we enjoyed our annual Rangoli competition and a poem writing competition. As always, the entries were all very beautiful and colourful. Here are three of the designs the students and teachers created. The winners of the poem writing competition were the girls from 7th class.

On 27th October the school re-opened following the Diwali holiday we were happy to welcome Anne Mawdsley to our school, a lovely lady from New Zealand who came to teach English grammar to our students in 5th-8th standard. Students are now working hard revising for their 2nd term examination which will take place in the second week of November.
