Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Eve, Rachel and Simon (sponsors) came to the school with their friend George and celebrated the spirit of Christmas by giving each student a goodie bag of biscuits, chocolate and sweets. They also treated the teachers and staff and afterwards everyone enjoyed the festivities before the Winter holiday began. Harbans in 8th class dressed up as Santa for the nursery students and everyone enjoyed dancing and singing songs together.

Sports Day.

In 2010 we did not have enough time in the school calendar for sports day, so this year our students really enjoyed the opportunity to have fun and compete against each other in all manner of races and games. Nursery, 1st and 2nd class students enjoyed leap frog racing, 3rd-4th class enjoyed sprinting races, 5th class entered the lemon n spoon race, 6th class took part in sack races and the 6th-8th class students all enjoyed games of Kabbadi and Koko. Everyone cheered them and had great fun.

Christmas Card & Arts ‘n’ Craft Sale.

This year we held our first ever public sale of cards made by our students. One of our sponsors, Rachel (UK) helped us organise a stall for 3 days in McLeod Ganj, and Naresh and 4 of our 8th class students sold our hand-made cards and craftwork to raise money for the school. They did very well. They sold everything they made and came back to school with Rs6500. ($120 / £80 / 97 Euros). Our students were very proud of themselves and enjoyed the opportunity of contributing towards raising funds for the school. Well done everyone involved and thank you for your hard work.

Regional Competition Winners!

At the beginning of December our school received some excellent news! The Science & Technology Department of the Central Government in Delhi held a competition called ‘Inspired Students Award’, in which they celebrated hard work and commitment to studies by rewarding a number of students in the Himachal Pradesh region with a Rs5000 scholarship. Teachers from every school in the district were asked to nominate 2 students from their schools for the prize. In Kangra District 734 students won awards. 464 came from private schools, 270 came from government schools and 2 came from our school – the only non-governmental school to receive the award, and both our students were selected! We are immensely proud of Kundan (8th class) and Deeksha (9th class). They are the only 2 students in the local area comprising 15 schools to receive the award. Well done, and good luck in round 2 of the competition! This just goes to prove that , regardless of background can do well, given the right opportunities and chances in life.
